Good grief: NFL player compares booing players to booing soldiers coming
home from Iraq

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 07:00 AM PST

Remember Kellen Winslow Jr a few years back when he compared himself to a
Now New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle did even better (or worse as the
case may be) in not only comparing himself to soldiers, but insisting that
booing him or his team would be like booing veterans coming home from war.
From the NY Daily News:
In an attempt to defend ripping Giants fans Tuesday for booing the team,
Rolle said: "They want to make it that guys paid this much money for a
ticket. Yeah, I understand that, I understand completely. We risk ourselves
out there on the field each and every day also. When soldiers come home
from Iraq you don't boo them. I look at it the same way. I take my job
seriously."Dear NFL players: you get paid a ginormous sum of money to play
a game. A GAME. You are not defending the freedoms of this country. Your
lives are not on the line any more than people cross the street put their
lives in danger. Deal with your enormous egos in some other way. Sincerely
- NFL fans everywhere. Speaking of fans, one didn't take the news really
well. Worse than me in fact:
This comes the same week as this: Good grief: NFL receiver blames God for
dropping pass. Get over yourselves!

Video of Sen Claire McCaskill (D-MO): If we don't jack up taxes, Americans
should kill the rich!

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 06:00 AM PST

As a backdrop, keep in mind that it has been conclusively shown that each
$1 in higher taxes results in $1.17 of new spending. Increasing taxes on
anyone in any way will make the deficit worse, not better because Congress
in whatever the opposite of infinite wisdom is, will simply spend it on new
programs. But McCaskill insists that indeed taxes need to be raised, and if
they're not, then Americans need to pick up the pitchforks, which by the
way are used to stab people. Via Gateway Pundit:
Is it me, or did McCaskill just demonize those that itemize their taxes?
Not raising taxes on people is not "giving them money" as McCaskill
insists. It's the people's money, not hers and not that of Congress's.
Pulling even more money out of the private sector won't help the economy
either, especially since 70% of teh GDP is consumer spending. Thus the
money should stay with consumers, no?

Germany compares Obama to God: "he behaves like an Old Testament god who
kills people as he sees fit with fire and brimstone"

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 05:00 AM PST

even a broken clock is right twice a dayLike AN Old Testament god? Is there
another god that rained down fire and brimstone from above that I am not
aware of? They could have said that he behaves like THE Old Testament God.
But that's what generations of secular progressivism have given Germany - a
total misconception of anything spiritual. So what we end up with - again -
is a comparison of Obama to God Almighty by people that know nothing of the
latter, even when trying to blast the former. From Speigel via drudge: US
Drone Attack Raises Uncomfortable Questions for Germany. I'll cut right to
the chase:
Neskovic reserves his strongest criticism for the American president, who
he sees as being ultimately responsible for the drone attacks. "Barack
Obama is not God, able to freely decide about life and death," he
says. "Nevertheless he behaves like an Old Testament God who kills people
as he sees fit with fire and brimstone."Actually, you don't have to be God
to freely decide about life and death. Murderers make the decision every
day. Abortionists do it too - legally and quite freely at that. If there's
one thing I can say I agree with Obama on, it's taking the fight to the
enemy via videogames drone attacks. Death from above. Then again, there's
this: The new humane: killing terrorists instead of capturing them. It's
what happens when you conflate terrorists with common criminals.

Old meme: Earth has a fever. New meme: "Are we freezing because of global

Posted: 03 Dec 2010 07:17 PM PST

Old meme, ala Al Gore:
New meme, appropriately via memeorandum: Are we freezing because of global
For six years, a team at Southampton University has been using instruments,
strung across the Atlantic from the Bahamas to north Africa, to monitor the
Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. This is the massive system of
currents, including the Gulf Stream, that carries a mind-boggling 1.3
petawatts of heat – that's 1,300,000,000,000,000 watts – northwards in its
warm upper waters.

The Gulf Stream relies on the fact that as the water loses its heat in the
north Atlantic, it cools, sinks and flows back to the south. The fear has
been that, as the planet warms, melting Arctic ice will weaken these
currents, plunging Europe into the cooler. You get the feeling that these
guys have watched The Day After Tomorrow far too many times.
More from YID With LID and Right Wing News. Want to know what the next meme
will be? Global warming caused by... racism. It already causes obesity
among black women, so what the heck?
UPDATE: More alarmism: Sea Level Could Rise in South, Fall in North. That's
right folks, global warming is causing the Earth to lose it's shape! Once a
sphere, now an ellipsoid, and someday a spaghetti noodle. All due to racism.

Video of Robert Menendez (D-NJ) on negotitaing tax rates with GOP : "Its
almost like the question of do you negotiate with terrorists"

Posted: 03 Dec 2010 04:00 PM PST

Republicans are dead set against raising taxes in this bleak economy. It
has, after all, been conclusively shown that each $1 in higher taxes
results in $1.17 of new spending. Thus, why feed the beast? But then
there's New Jersey Robert Menendez who believes that Republicans are
terrorist and are holding tax hikes hostage. From ABC News via memeorandum:
Dem Senator: Negotiating with Republicans "Almost" like Negotiating
with "Terrorists"
The silver lining? Menendez is using the word "terrorist" again, something
he refuses to do most of the time with al Quada. How is people keeping the
fruits of their labor taking money from anyone's pocket? That is so
backwards it isn't even funny.

Unemployment jumps to 9.8%, 16th straight months above 9.5%, 19th straight
above 9%

Posted: 03 Dec 2010 03:06 PM PST

Can we now officially call the stimulus a failure? It has made the problem
worse, not better. Keep in mind that in October of 2006 — just before the
Democrats took Congress — unemployment was 4.4%. We have now been above
9.5% for 16 straight months. Still going the wrong way thanks to hopey
changy at the wheel:
So much for the recovery summer. Or a recovery fall. Of course, the AP
doesn't dwell on the fact that the unemployment rate is essentially 10% for
almost a year and a half. They only mention such things at the end of
articles, if at all. They are still highlighting the small growth in jobs
that isn't even enough to match the population growth. As a matter of fact,
a 100,000 jobs growth in a month is the breakeven point to match jobs with
children growing into working age. Anything under 100,000 is a net loss of
jobs. From the AP via The Detroit News: Jobless rate rises to 9.8 percent
as job growth slows
The nation's unemployment rate climbed to 9.8 percent in November, a
seven-month high, as hiring slowed.

Employers added only 39,000 jobs last month, a sharp decline from the
172,000 created in October. The weakness was widespread. Retailers,
factories, construction companies, financial firms and the government all
cut jobs last month.

Private companies — the backbone of the economy — created 50,000 jobs. That
was down significantly from the 160,000 private-sector jobs created in
October and was the smallest gain since January.

With hiring so weak, the unemployment rate rose from 9.6 percent to 9.8
percent. The jobless rate has now topped 9 percent for 19 straight months,
the longest stretch on record.Obama promised the unemployment rate would
not exceed 8% if Congress gave him a $1.2 trillion (including interest)
slush fund in the form of the stimulus boondoggle:
In the bigger picture, Obama promised that 3.5 million NEW private-sector
jobs will be created by the $1.2 trillion stimulus bill ($800
billion + interest over 10 years since the US is bankrupt) by 2010.
Instead, more than 3 million jobs have been lost. Here is what has
been happening with Biden's 3-letter word since last year:
January US jobs lost: 598,000 jobs
February US jobs lost: 706,000 jobs
March US jobs lost: 742,000 jobs
April US jobs lost: 545,000 jobs
May US jobs lost: 345,000 jobs
June US jobs lost: 467,000 jobs
July US jobs lost: 247,000 jobs
August US jobs lost: 216,000 jobs
September US jobs lost: 263,000 jobs
October US jobs lost: 190,000 jobs
November US jobs lost: 11,000 jobs
December US jobs lost: 85,000 jobs
January US jobs lost: 20,000
February US jobs lost: 30,000
March US jobs lost: -162,000
April US jobs lost: -290,000
May US jobs lost: -431,000
June US jobs lost: 125,000
July US jobs lost: 131,000
August US jobs lost: 54,000
September US jobs lost: 95,000
October US jobs lost: -151,000
November US jobs lost: -39,000

Total US jobs lost under Obama: 3,797,000 jobs3.8 million fewer
jobs to lose, and that's neglecting the corrections that were made
to the jobs numbers from last year that showed even bigger losses.
Recall that the stimulus package was supposed to stop the unemployment
rate at 8%! A crisis could become a calamity? Remember that? Here's how
that looks (via Michael's Comments):
Note that the blue lines are the numbers that Obama's team came up
with. So the actual unemployment rate is not only worse that what
would happen with porkulus, but even worse than was predicted without
it. The stimulus bill was and is a fraud perpetrated by Obama on the
American people to pay back his union hacks that got him elected.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Wayne State University cancels 'Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity Award'
after more anti-Semitic comments

Posted: 03 Dec 2010 02:00 PM PST

Finally Wayne State University is getting a stain off its books. After
Helen Thomas demanded that Israeli Jews get out of their promised land and
go back to the ovens in Germany and Poland, WSU defiantly and absurdly
left her name on the 'Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity Award.' In fact,
Thomas has been showered with praise since resigning getting fired.
Muslims in Dearbornistan are erecting a statue of her. And the wicked witch
of the Middle East is getting the CAIR award that completes her triple
crown of anti-Semitism. (she was also honored by a Muslim group that was
raided by the FBI) But yesterday she said this:
"Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall Street are owned by the
Zionists. No question, in my opinion"That was too much for WSU. Insisting
that Jews go back to the ovens was AOK, but implying that our community
organizer-in-chief was owned by Jews was just... too far. From The Detroit
News: WSU cancels Helen Thomas award after remarks
Wayne State University will no longer offer an award named in honor of one
of its most famous alumni, former White House Press Corps member Helen
Thomas, officials announced today. The Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity
award will no longer be handed out because of controversial statements
Thomas, an Arab American, made during a conference in Dearborn on Thursday.

..."As a public university, Wayne State encourages free speech and open
dialogue, and respects diverse viewpoints," a university statement
said. "However, the university strongly condemns the anti-Semitic remarks
made by Helen Thomas … As a result of these remarks, Wayne State will no
longer offer the Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity Award."Exit question:
what are the odds that when someone eventually asks Thomas about losing her
name on that award that she blames 'dem jooos?'

Holocaust occurred. Says "Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall

I suppose that's better than cat juggling:
Van Jones is a self described communist. He is also the co-founder of
the radical group Color of Change that spearheaded the boycott against
Glenn Beck, which backfired, and epically at that. Van Jones and his

the day after the attack! Jones called Republicans @ssholes back in

wackjob mode in this video accusing "white polluters" of steering

What is the Congressional Review Act? Political ninjitsu, that's what

Posted: 03 Dec 2010 11:00 AM PST

This is NOT how govt is supposed to work!Ed Morrissey posted on the
Congressional Review Act just the other day. To be honest, I never heard of
it before I read Ed's post. It is a little-known act passed during the
Clinton administration that allows Congress to basically veto any
regulation put forth by executive branch agencies like the FDA, USDA, DOE,
EPA, etc. Why is this important? Because the GOP took the House, cut the
Democrat Senate majority in the Senate, and therefore Obama will try to
pass turd sandwiches like cap and trade through unaccountable bureaucrats
in said agencies bypassing Congress altogether. The news that this Act
exists and the GOP will use it is nothing short of political ninjitsu. From
The Politico:
GOP lawmakers say they want to upend a host of Environmental Protection
Agency rules by whatever means possible, including the Congressional Review
Act, a rarely used legislative tool that allows Congress to essentially
veto recently completed agency regulations.

The law lets sponsors skip Senate filibusters, meaning Republicans don't
have to negotiate with Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) for a floor vote
or secure the tricky 60 votes typically needed to do anything in the Senate.

The House doesn't have the same expedited procedures, but it's assumed the
GOP majority would have little trouble mustering the votes needed to pass
disapproval resolutions.

A spate of contentious EPA rules that are soon to be finalized could be
prime targets, including the national air quality standard for ozone, toxic
emission limits for industrial boilers and a pending decision about whether
to regulate coal ash as hazardous waste.

"We're not going to let EPA regulate what they've been unable to legislate.
And if I'm chairman, we're going to have a very aggressive, proactive
schedule," Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the likely incoming chairman of the
Energy and Commerce Committee, told POLITICO.I don't trust Fred "ban the
lightbulb" Upton any farther than I can throw him. There really is nothing
like voter repudiation at the ballot box to scare Congresscritters into
action though.

Video: Is this the most realistic CGI you've ever seen?

Posted: 03 Dec 2010 09:00 AM PST

This doesn't look like CGI at all:
From New Scientist via HotAir headlines:
Are the best computer animators only as good as the technology they use,
or does natural talent distinguish their work from the rest? The question
has been debated online this week after a new super-realistic
computer-generated video appeared on YouTube.

At first glance, the minute-long commercial for kitchen worktops looks
like slick, well-timed slow-motion footage of fruit falling in a shiny
kitchen. It's only when the peppers and pears smash like glass on the
counter that it becomes clear these are not real fruit.

Alex Roman, the graphic designer who created the ad, dismisses suspicions
that the shots aren't pure computer-generated imagery: "Yep, it's all CG.
I tried to put some live-footage shots but I ran out of time so CGI did
the trick."A tool is only as good as the hand that wields it.
