Video of Sen Chuck Schumer: 2 Branches of Govt are "House, Senate, and
President" (And these same people call Sarah Palin stupid?)

Chuck U Schumer has been in the Senate forever. It's already clear that he
doesn't know much about the US Constitution. So much so that he doesn't
know what the 3 branches of government are (executive, legislative,
judicial). He insists here that the branches are the "House, Senate, and
President" at the 1:10 mark:
And ruling class liberals like Schumer have the unmitigated gall to call
Sarah Palin stupid? The only reason they even have the ability to do it is
that the establishment media doesn't report their own idiotic statements
that are way beyond anything Palin is accused of.

Flashback: Obama press sec Robert Gibbs: "we will keep a boot to the
throat". Where were the calls for 'new civility' back then?

Obama recently called for a "new civility," but himself has been the most
uncivil President since I became politically aware decades ago. There of
course are these recent quotes:
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun," Obama in July 2008

"We're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who
stand with us on issues that are important to us." Obama to Latinos,
October 2010

"I think it's tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers, unless
the hostage gets harmed. In this case the hostage is the American
people and I was not willing to see them get harmed," Obama on
keeping taxes from increasing, December 6, 2010

"A Republican majority in Congress would mean "hand-to-hand combat" on
Capitol Hill for the next two years, threatening policies Democrats have
enacted to stabilize the economy," Obama, October 6, 2010

"Here's the problem: It's almost like they've got -- they've got a
bomb strapped to them and they've got their hand on the trigger. You
don't want them to blow up. But you've got to kind of talk them, ease
that finger off the trigger." Obama on banks, March 2009

"I want you to argue with them and get in their face!" Barack Obama,
September 2008

"I don't want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I'm
angry!" Obama on ACORN Mobs, March 2010

"We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick." Obama on the private
sector, June 2010 Lost down the memory hole was this one during the oil
spill where the mouth of Obama - Press Secretary Robert Gibbs - said that O
would be keeping "a boot to the throat" of BP: Video of violent right-wing
rhetoric: "we will keep a boot to the throat"
There were no calls for a "new civility" back then when Democrats were in
firm control. Now that Republicans took the House in overwhelming numbers,
the Democrats want to shut them up. Just days before Gibbs spoke above, I
wrote this: Barack "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun"
Obama to U of M grads: partisan rants and name-calling may incite
"extreme elements" to violence

In a blunt caution to political friend and foe, President Barack Obama
said Saturday that partisan rants and name-calling under the guise of
legitimate discourse pose a serious danger to America's democracy, and may
incite "extreme elements" to violence. The comments, in a graduation speech
at the University of Michigan's huge football stadium, were Obama's most
direct take about the angry politics that have engulfed his young
presidency after long clashes over health care, taxes and the role of
government. If liberals want to continue to insist that rhetoric had
anything to do with the Arizona shooting against all the facts, they might
want to point the finger at our community organizer-in-chief as the
lighting rod.

Video: Obama shamelesly lies about ObamaCare and its implications

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/theblogprof1/~3/w3IEkjlnE5c/video-obama-shamelesly-lies-about.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email

Not long ago, Obama gave a speech and shameless lied about ObamaCare.
Again. From Think Progress on YouTube, Obama saying that "granny is safe"
but neglecting to mention that ObamaCare pulls $500 billion from the
Medicare program:
It turns out that the Medicare actuary came out not long after ObamaCare
was passed by hook and crook, and testified that it bent the cost
curve.... upwards. That is, not only is ObamaCare not reducing healthcare
costs, it is in fact increasing them. Thus the rising premiums -
Government Admits Medical Costs Will Rise Under ObamaCare, Sebelius
Threatens Insurers Who Criticize It, And Not Even Jon Stewart Is Buying
The BS. The relevant graphic:

He backed that up again just a few days ago: Medicare Official: Yeah -
those claims that ObamaCare will save money are pure fantasy. The fact that
Democrats gamed the CBO to get a score on ObamaCare that they wanted via
gimmick - double counting of savings, 6 years of bennies for 10 years of
taxes, the 'doctor fix,' etc - has been well known. A quote from
Holtz-Eakin:
I have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for the quality of
the estimates that CBO produces. Period. I have nothing but a deep
understanding of the rules by which they must use those estimates, and
the way the law was written in order to get the deficit reduction bottom
line—by reading out some costs, using budget gimmicks, putting in
unrealistic estimates of future Medicare reductions. None of that has
anything to do with CBO's competence or professionalism. That's a
congressional problem. Congress used CBO to get the answer they wanted. I
get that. I ran the CBO. They used me too. So, I don't think it's having
it both ways. I've always defended CBO's work. I'm complaining about the
way that Congress wrote the law.Paul Ryan took down Obama's fiscal house of
cards:
The Grand Rapids Press admitted as much not long ago: Irony: liberal MSM
that pushed ObamaCare now lament that "federal mandates jack up costs".
Insurance premiums are increasing even faster than they would have if
ObamaCare hadn't passed (Connecticut is seeing a 47% increase this year,
Boeing is paring back healthcare benefits for its employees, while even the
White House admits that seniors will see higher costs and less benefits.
Hospitals in Indiana are laying off staff citing ObamaCare. Also, there was
this: CNN: Cost of your health plan to rise 14%, the opposite of what Obama
promised in runup to ObamaCare), and Obama's minions are threatening
insurance companies with bankruptcy for even hinting that ObamaCare is the
cause (it is). Local cities like Mount Clemens MI are about to go bankrupt
because of the increased cost of ObamaCare. That's in spite of the fact
that Democrats have abandoned the claim that ObamaCare will reduce cost and
deficit. Detroit area health insurance to jump 8.9% in 2011 due to
ObamaCare. The Obama regime via the FDA is deep-sixing miracle cancer
drugs that extend life because they cost too much (ObamaCare begins
early: FDA may pull Avastin approval OVER COST CONCERNS). Insurance
companies are being forced to cut coverage plans, the law is creating a
huge doctor shortage, is cutting Medicare reimbursement rates thus removing
doctors from the system via attrition, and to boot even the CBO admits that
it discourages work. Every time socialized medicine has been
tried, it's been a proven failure. ObamaCare is no different
except that it can still be repealed before it's too late. The fact that
a federal judge deemed it unconstitutional is a good start:
UPDATE: Oh goody: More Than Half of Union Workers Exempt From ObamaCare.
That in an of itself proves ObamaCare to be a failure.

The "New Civility" (Cont'd): Actor Richard Dreyfuss On Ed Schultz Praying

This must be th enew civility that Obama and the Dems have been touting
while calling the GO Nazis and worse. From a prior post of mine some time
ago, Ed Schultz asking God to kill Dick Cheney:
■ Dick Cheney Should Die: "He is an enemy of the country, in my
opinion. Dick Cheney is an enemy of the country….Lord, take him to
the Promised Land, will you? See, I don't even wish the guy goes
to Hell, I just want to get him the hell out of here." (Ed
Schultz)From CNS News: MSNBC's Ed Schultz Calling Dick Cheney an 'Enemy' of
America 'Not Uncivil,' Says Civics Initiative Leader Richard Dreyfuss
MSNBC's Ed Schultz calling former Vice President Dick Cheney "an enemy of
the country" who should go "to the Promised Land," is not an example of
political incivility but is actually "beautifully phrased," according to
actor Richard Dreyfuss, who is spearheading a nationwide initiative on
civics education and civility in political discourse. The video:
This "new civility" bs from liberals is a naked attempt to shut
conservatives up. It has nothing to do with civility. Speaking of that new
civility, from the New Hampshire Journal via Instapundit: Top Dem: We will
'hang' Republicans
Ed AllardAmidst a national dialogue about softening political rhetoric,
members of an Obama-affiliated organization are threatening to hang
Granite State Republicans in the New Hampshire House of Representatives,
according to a news story in the Citizen of Laconia.

"They're going to hang themselves," said Belknap Democratic Chair Ed Allard
of Republicans. "And we're going to help them."Any questions?

Obama SOTU 2010 redux: "Cutting the deficit by gutting our investments in
innovation and education is like lightening an overloaded airplane by
removing its engine. It may feel like you're flying high at first, but it
won't take long before you'll feel the impact." Ignores entitlements that
are majority of budget and all of the deficit

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/theblogprof1/~3/DHtI30gaTMg/obama-sotu-2010-redux-cutting-deficit.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email

Obama doesn't want to cut overspending by the government. He barely paid
cutting spending lip service at his SOTU address. Instead, he focused more
on new spending. As far as he's concerned, it's pedal to the metal. The big
non-surprise surprise was that Obama didn't touch by far the biggest
source of our current and future debt – entitlements. From Obama's SOTU
address January 25, 2011:
"Cutting the deficit by gutting our investments in innovation and education
is like lightening an overloaded airplane by removing its engine. It may
feel like you're flying high at first, but it won't take long before you'll
feel the impact."'Investments in innovation and education' aren't why we
have a record $1.5 trillion deficit this year in addition to the absurdly
high deficits of Obama's first two years and this coming one:

It's entitlement spending that is the biggest chunk of the pie and
projected to swallow the entire budget in years to come, a far cry from a
few generations ago:
So why even mention such things? Easy. Two words: human shields. It's a
typical game plan of the Democrat Party. When it comes to cutting anything,
they hold up children as shields. 'If we cut, we will hurt these children.'
Local Democrats do the same exact thing. If we cut your taxes, it will hurt
the children. Ironically, all these ruling class liberals are pro-aborts.
So much for that children meme, no?

MI Gov Snyder Rick Snyder explains why Michigan needs re-inventing: 'who's
on first?'

Posted: 30 Jan 2011 02:00 PM PST
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/theblogprof1/~3/IbfltAjyuWM/mi-gov-snyder-rick-snyder-explains-why.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email

Remember the classic Abbott and Costello skit "who's on first?" Let me
remind you:
Turns out, that's Michigan's bureaucracy in a nutshell. From A Conservative
Teacher, a story told him by our Governor over the weekend at the GOP
Convention in Grand Rapids:
Synder moves into his new office in Lansing and goes to sit down at his
desk, and he strikes up a conversation with the IT guys who are in his
office installing his computer. He notices that his computer screen is a
square computer screen, so he asks one of the IT guys about it- "How come
I have a square computer screen?" From his time as CEO of Gateway
Computers, Synder knew that square computer screens are more expensive and
usually smaller than most modern rectangle shaped wide-screen computer
screens.

"Because that's what They said that We should put in," the tech guys
answered and kept on installing his new computer.

Synder said that he looked puzzled and then asked "Who are 'They'?"

"They are the ones that order that things get done," the guy guys said and
kept installing the expensive and small square computer screen.

Synder looked more puzzled and then asked "Who are 'They'?"

"They order things, and we do them, and they say the specifications are
that everyone gets a square computer screen," the tech guys said and
continued working, "They are in charge of how things are done."

Synder said that he looked even more puzzled and once again asked "Who are
They? Aren't I the Governor of the State of Michigan? Aren't I the one in
charge of how things get done?"Click over and read the rest of the story,
as Paul Harvey might say. But the point is that common sense in government
is an oxymoron, and the left hand not only doesn't know what the left hand
is doing, but it doesn't know why it would do anything anyways. On a
footnote, it was classy of the Governor not only to mingle with all of us
at the convention, but actually walk around and try to shake everyone's
hand. Nice touch, Gov!

Obama SOTU 2010 redux: Blames Bush for 3 years of record deficits on HIS
watch

Posted: 30 Jan 2011 01:00 PM PST
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/theblogprof1/~3/4ThFp81HFC4/obama-sotu-2010-redux-blames-bush-for-3.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email

Obama blamed Bush in the first 2 SOTU addresses for the deficit. Never mind
that he voted for the 2009 budget that included the first ever greater than
$1 trillion deficit that was drafted by Democrats and garnered virtually no
GOP support in Congress (more on that later). He OWNS the 2010 budget. He
OWNS the fact that 2011 is going to be a banner year for overspending: Good
News: CBO says this year's budget deficit to hit "stunning" $1.5 TRILLION!

Yet, Obama has the gall to once again blame Bush. From his SOTU address:
"We are living with a legacy of deficit-spending that began almost a decade
ago."FALSE! Here is what the deficits have looked like in the past decade
and before:
The current deficits are NOTHING like anyone had even dreamed of before.
During Bush's 2 terms, note that the deficit was decreasing starting in
2003-2006 AFTER the tax cuts and after we were funding 2 wars. That turned
around in 2006 after the November elections when Democrats were swept into
power. Since that time, the Dems have racked this country with an
additional $5 trillion in debt (Good news: National Debt Has Increased $5
Trillion Since Nancy Pelosi Vowed, "No New Deficit Spending"). As I have
pointed out many times in this blog, the FY 2007 federal budget - the
last one put together by Republicans - was $2.7 trillion. Since
Pelosi and Reid took over, the federal budget is at $3.8 trillion.
The deficit is entirely comprised of new Democrat spending since
2007.
Since I mentioned it earlier, Obama voted for the 2009 budget as a Senator,
which would be his first budget as President. How can he disassociate
himself from that deficit and instead blame it on Bush? But it gets even
worse for him. Need I remind anyone - again (I do) - that Obama 1) voted
for as Senator or signed into law as President every single penny of the
deficit he now says he inherited, and 2) the housing meltdown was due to
policies that he helped put in place going all the way back to his
community organizer days when he muscled banks to give loans to people that
couldn't pay them back. For one, his own voting record:
Voted "yea" March 18, 2008 on the $3.1 trillion in fiscal outlays
with a projected $400 billion budget deficit (only 2 Republicans
voted "yea", and not one Republican in the House voted for it after
the conference committee) Biden, Rahm Emmanuel and Hillary Clinton
voted "yea" as wellVoted "yea" October 1, 2008 for the $700 billion
Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) along with Biden and
ClintonPushed through and signed into law the $787 billion stimulus
bill boondoggle in February 2009Signed into law $410 billion of
additional spending in the 2009 budget in March 2009Thus, how does he
blame Bush when he either voted for (along party lines no less) or
signed into law every single gosh-darned penny that is now the
record $1.4 trillion deficit, with a 2010 deficit of $1.39 trillion
and a 2011 projected deficit of $1.42 trillion? The above projections do
not take into account either ObamaCare or cap-and-trade.This by the
way does not absolve Bush for leaving a $400 billion deficit that I
thought was unconscionable, but by comparison Bush looks like a
fiscal conservative. Obama, in contrast, not only voted for the
2009 budget, but praised it afterwards. From NewsBusters:
March 14 (2008)
Obama Statement on the Senate's Passage of the FY 2009 Budget

Washington DC -- Sen. Obama today released a statement on the Senate's
passage of the FY 2009 Federal Budget:

"In Illinois and throughout the country, Americans share common
hopes and common struggles. They are worried about keeping their
jobs and being able to pay record gas prices and stay ahead of
their mortgages and credit card bills and still have enough left
over to make ends meet. They want to know that they'll have health
care when they get sick - not just for themselves, but for their
children and elderly parents. They want to know that a quality
education and a college degree are within reach for all Americans.
They want to retire with security and dignity. And they want to know
that our government is doing everything it can to keep our nation
safe and secure.

"The budget passed by the Senate tonight makes significant progress in
getting our nation's priorities back on track. After years of the Bush
tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, this year's budget helps
restore fiscal responsibility in Washington, and provides tax
relief for the middle class and low-income families who need help
most. It includes an expansion in the Child Tax Credit that I have
fought for and makes marriage penalty relief permanent. And it
rejects the President's drastic cuts in important domestic programs.

"We need change in this country, and this budget is an important step
in helping bring it about. I commend Chairman Conrad for his
extraordinary leadership in moving this resolution forward and moving
America's fiscal policies in the right direction."
All of the annual deficits under Obama are his own. He has no one to blame
but himself. I'm no fan of Bush's spending, but Obama truly makes him look
like a fiscal conservative.

GOP State Convention bummer - Lt Gov Brian Calley has sour grapes

Posted: 30 Jan 2011 04:45 PM PST
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/theblogprof1/~3/IXa9EsgdRuU/gop-state-convention-bummer-lt-gov.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email

I spent most of Friday and Saturday at Grand Rapids at the State GOP
Convention to elect new leadership for the immediate future. Other than
hearing a gazillion speeches,

Brian Calley seems like a good, mild-mannered guy to me. But it is now
apparent that he also keeps sour grapes. Back during the primary last year,
I reported that Calley's nomination was almost contested. Not because
anyone didn't like Calley, but for the express purpose of the tea party
sticking a finger in the eye of the GOP establishment. From my post on the
GOP convention last August: MI GOP Convention in 2 words: Charlie Foxtrot
The fireworks started with the nomination of the Lt Governor position
where the tea party nominated their own guy. The establishment wanted a
hand vote, rather than a ballot vote, claiming they couldn't do a ballot
vote because ballots couldn't be printed fast enough (they had generic
ballots for "office 1" with selection "A" and "B" that they would later
use for the Secretary of State run-off, so the entire claim was
bogus). ... The machine got its way... A great post on the railroading of
the tea party Cooper nomination by the machine by Rex Heine: Smoking Out
The Rats In A Snake Pit - Calley vs. CooperSo Brian Calley makes a speech
at the State Convention yesterday. I'll set aside for now that his speech
was almost identical to the one that he gave in August, a fact that did not
impress anyone irrespective of the speech's quality. But it's how he
started his speech that raised an eyebrow. I was certainly not alone. I'm
paraphrasing here, but Calley started out by saying "Good morning. This is
is a better morning than the last time we met. I don't think anyone is
running against me here." It was a slight at the tea party that 1)
nominated their own candidate for Lt Gov at the GOP Convention in August,
and 2) turned the state red. Not classy, but apparently Calley.

The question as to why he did such a thing remains. There was nothing to
gain from it, and if he meant it as a joke, it wasn't taken as such. Not a
single cackle could be heard. Not a one. But tea partiers sure did notice.
And we didn't take the slight too well either.

Which segues into a bigger issue – the insistence by the GOP establishment
throughout the event that it was because of them that the state turned from
blue to red. Nothing could be further from the truth. And I can say that
from experience watching from here in the 9th district as the establishment
didn't lift a finger to help Rocky Raczkowski against Gary Peters. We can
argue all we want on how Rocky's campaign was run, but whatever the
shortcomings, the GOP establishment abandoned him and Peters came out as
the sole survivor of the big, red wave.

So in the bigger picture, the GOP machine still doesn't get it. It's not
them, it's us. We in the grassroots helped candidates with our feet and
voice moreso than them. And instead of acknowledging that fact, they still
believe themselves to be the primary causal factor for change. They better
take the red pill and wake up to the reality. And soon. As it is, they
continue to take the blue pill and live in ignorant bliss. One indication
of the ignorant bliss is their symbol of the party, something I posted on
since the first state convention last year during the primary. Look at the
symbol and tell me what this reminds you of:
Want a reminder? Here ya go:
It's the same one from last year, and they still don't see it for what it
is. Absolutely clueless! They seem to not only be taking the blue pill, but
using it as a suppository. Ugh…

illustrated Bachmann Derangement Syndrome:

The big slight on Bachmann was that she wasn't looking directly at the
camera. Well, it turns out that CNN might have had a whole lot to do with
that. From BreitbartTV:
Our sources tell us that CNN had originally agreed to use the live feed set
up by Tea Party Express, which had a teleprompter running on the lens in
which Rep. Bachmann was delivering her speech. But, when Rep. Bachmann left
the camera set-up and sat in the House chamber to hear Pres. Obama's
speech, CNN set up a camera of their own, just off to the side of the main,
tele-prompter/camera. Thus, when CNN provided their network feed it ended
up skewed and off-kilter.

Here, we present the direct, Tea Party Express feed as was originally
broadcast to on-line viewers (including viewers at Breitbart.tv) the night
of the speech.The video:
It would surprise no one, I think, to learn that CNN had done something to

The video via CNS News:
It's bizarre for the chief bureaucrat that will push ObamaCare on every
American to relate healthcare insurance to purchasing a tv. Thus the exit
question: if the government can make you purchase health insurance,
shouldn't they also have the authority to force you to purchase a tv? Or a
car from Government Motors? If not, why not? What's the difference?

And I actually agree with Sebelius - purchasing healthcare coverage is just
like purchasing a tv. You can buy a caddilac-level tv with all the bells

Time'. Robert Redford, as it turns out (one of my top-10 favorite actors by
the way), is not surprisingly in that camp as well:
Via BreitbartTV. Many have said this - Glenn Reynolds comes immediately to
mind - that I will change my behavior when all these alarmists do it first.
They are the bigger users, not the average Joes. For these Hollywood types,
what exactly is the use of driving a Toyota Prius to a film opening when
afterwards you drive it back to a 35,000 square foot mansion with a heated
pool and an airplane runway?

Speaking of Glenn Reynolds, from Instapundit:
I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ONE GODDAMN WORD ABOUT MY CARBON FOOTPRINT: FOIA
Request Reveals Pelosi Logged 43 Flights Covering 90,155 Miles from January
to October 2010. "According to previous documents uncovered by Judicial
Watch, the former Speaker's military travel cost the United States Air
Force $2,100,744.59 over one two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was
for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol."Pelosi's carbon
footprint over the last 2 years is likely bigger than mine over my
lifetime. So if it's not an issue for them, it's not for me either.
